Benevolent Garden

The name "Benevolent Garden" signifies peace and goodwill. The pavilion by the pond is reflected in the clear water, the stone bridge lies quietly across it, and the Hui-style courtyard exudes elegance and brightness. In this tranquil space, worldly cares seem to fade away. Seated in this corner, you can soak in the scenic views of mountains and water, and enjoy a moment of quiet nostalgia.

Longchuan Water Street

Along the winding Longchuan Creek, rows of houses face the water with mountains at their back — a classic layout of ancient Huizhou-style villages. The creekside pathway serves as the village's main pedestrian corridor and is known as Water Street.

Ruxin Pavilion

Ruxin Pavilion stands in the middle of Longchuan Water Street. It was built in 1768, during the 33rd year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty. The pavilion's name derives from the phrase "follow your heart, advancing or retreating at will," expressing a wish for a life of ease and freedom.
On the western side of the pavilion, three stone steps are cleverly designed. From east to west, they symbolize "rising step by step toward greater success."

Kanghui Bridge

The Kanghui Bridge spans Longchuan Water Street. The bridge's name is derived from Hu Fu, a renowned courtier of the Ming Dynasty, and "Kanghui" signifies "health and benevolence." On this footbridge, the communities on both sides of the creek lived peacefully along the water, enjoying a quiet and harmonious life.

Yishi Shangshu Archway

Located at the heart of Longchuan Village, the Yishi Shangshu Archway is a masterpiece of Hui-style stone carving. In imperial times, such archways were authorized by the imperial court to honor virtuous and meritorious officials for their outstanding achievements, upright governance, and the Confucian virtues of loyalty, filial piety, chastity, and righteousness.

Zhongshi Bridge

Zhongshi Bridge spans Longchuan Creek, connecting the Yishi Shangshu Archway and the Duxian Archway. The bridge deck is paved with ten granite slabs — the number "ten" symbolizing perfection in Chinese culture. Built during the Southern Song Dynasty by Hu Nian and Wu Gong, the bridge was named with the hope that future generations would cultivate virtue and achieve moral integrity. Sturdy and well-built, it remains a vital passageway in the village to this day.

Jixiang Pavilion

The Jixiang Pavilion embodies the spirit of good fortune and blessings. Inside, built-in curved benches offer a comfortable spot for visitors to rest and take in the views. The pavilion stands opposite the nearby archway, and together they are said to bring peace and prosperity to the village.

Bamboo House (Longchuan Market)

Hidden in a corner of Longchuan Water Street, the Bamboo House is guarded by stone beasts at its gate and framed by a round archway and an auspicious pavilion. The name "bamboo" carries a symbolic meaning, evoking the image of a boat anchoring the ancient village. The market's tranquil courtyard offers a peaceful retreat filled with the elegance of Huizhou culture.

Duxian Archway

The Duxian Archway stands on Longchuan Water Street. It was erected in honor of Hu Zongming, a Vice Censor-in-Chief of the Ming Dynasty. The name "Duxian" on the archway signifies his role in upholding discipline and overseeing the region. Hu Zongming was known for his diligence and integrity throughout his career, and this archway stands as a lasting testament to his official reputation and moral character.

Chengxin Hall Paper Workshop

The Chengxin Hall Paper Workshop brings ancient papermaking techniques back to life. Its "Longxu Paper" was once a prized treasure of the Southern Tang Dynasty. Visitors can see the full process — from pulping to drying — and appreciate the skill passed down through generations of Huizhou craftsmen.
