Longchuan Yidao (Official Post Road)

The Longchuan Yidao follows the Dengyuan River and was the official route between Jixi and Shexian in ancient Huizhou. As you walk this ancient road, you can still picture the merchants and travelers who journeyed along it in days gone by.

Shangguan Bridge

Shangguan Bridge crosses the Dengyuan River, linking Longchuan Ancient Village with Longxu Mountain. It was originally built by Hu Fu, a Ming Dynasty Minister of Revenue. The bridge's wooden frame rises in a graceful arch, reflected in the clear flow below. From here, visitors enjoy panoramic views of the blue mountains and the glistening river.

Former Residence of Hu Bingheng

The former residence of Hu Bingheng, a Huizhou merchant, faces south with a brick-and-wood structure and soaring horse-head walls. Exquisitely carved arches and sparrow braces adorn the interior, making it a fine example of Hui-style architecture. The Hu family ran tea businesses in Taizhou and Shanghai for four generations, and this house stands as a faithful record of their enduring legacy.

Huizhou Merchants Memorial Hall

Located next to the former residence of Hu Bingheng, the Huizhou Merchants Memorial Hall chronicles the centuries-long rise and fall of Huizhou merchants in Jixi. Through images, texts, and artifacts, it brings to life the entrepreneurial journeys of the Hu family's tea business, including the renowned "Hu Yuantai" brand. A guiding principle of these merchants — "Integrity and trustworthiness are the foundation of business; virtue and talent are what make an enterprise prosper" — reflects the integrity-based business philosophy that defined Huizhou merchants for generations.
