Renheyuan, meaning “Benevolence and Harmony”, is a peaceful garden beside Longchuan Creek. Local tradition tells that Nianwu of the Longchuan Hu clan once welcomed the geomancer Lai Wenjun here. The name reflects the Confucian belief that a community flourishes when people treat one another with kindness and live in harmony.

The garden brings together a pond, pavilions, a stone bridge and white-walled, dark-tiled Huizhou courtyards. Water and architecture are arranged in a compact composition: reflections move across the pond, while the bridge and covered pavilions frame views of the creek and surrounding hills.

Follow the winding paths at an unhurried pace, pause beside the water or sit under the pavilion, and notice the details of the traditional courtyard buildings. Renheyuan is especially pleasant in the morning and late afternoon, when the light softens the walls and the garden becomes a quiet place to rest during a visit to Longchuan.
