The Hu Zongxian Anti-Wokou Memorial Hall stands on the former site of Shaobao Mansion and was established in memory of Hu Zongxian, a renowned Ming Dynasty commander who fought against Japanese pirates. The hall combines images, texts, artifacts, and multimedia displays to present the illustrious military campaigns led by Hu Zongxian as commander-in-chief of the seven southeastern provinces. Xiangtang (Sacrificial Hall)
The Xiangtang is the central hall of Hu's Ancestral Hall, measuring seven bays wide and five bays deep, with 48 columns and 154 beams supporting its grand structure. It served as the venue for the Hu clan's ancestral rites and seasonal ceremonies. A raised platform within the hall distinguished the hierarchical order of participants. Over a hundred lotus-carved panels adorn the hall — the lotus (he) symbolizing harmony (he) — expressing the hope for "harmony throughout the hall and prosperity for generations to come." The wood carving here is truly exceptional.
